Black Hawk Deck Strength Test

Hello readers and welcome to this week’s blog post where we dive into the topic of strength and load testing our decks.

For this test, we will be using our longest model, the Bamboo deck from the AT Series V3. Being our longest deck, (97cm / 38”), the load applied at the centre of gravity will make for the most interesting of results. This is a static test, which will see the extreme weight applied to the center of the AT Series deck.

Black Hawk Deck Strength Test

To set this test up, we have selected 1 x AT Series deck at random and suspended it with crates at either end, specifically positioned where the trucks would be located. For weight, we are using Olympic barbell weights in increments of: 2 x 25kg, 2 x 20kg, 2 x 15kg, 2 x 10kg and 2 x 5kg. This test will take us right up to the maximum load handling weight of 150kg! (330lbs)

To watch the test and how it went, you can watch the video below.

It should be noted that combined with its impressively powerful powertrain, the AT Series has a recommended weight limit of up to 100kg, (220lbs). That being said, it is great to see that our decks are overengineered to handle significantly higher loads.

While this is a static test, different to a live load, in a hypothetical situation, it’s highly unlikely that a 100kg rider would experience greater than 1.5G in a reasonable riding scenario.

We hope you have enjoyed seeing us put our deck through its paces and demonstrating the true strength, quality and capabilities of our products.
